Hey y’all. The pastor at Forward Christian Life Center in Huntsville, Alabama has made a series of Youtube videos covering the basics of LGBT affirming theology. And they’re really good. REALLY GOOD. I’ve been reading LGBTQ+ theology since the 90s, and am learning a LOT from these videos.
Before you watch the video, here’s the website for Forward Christian Life Center. You can talk to them from anywhere. If you’re in the Huntsville, Alabama area, they’d love to have you drop in!
Here’s the first one about Genesis chapter 19. That’s the story of the destruction of the city of Sodom (as well as the surrounding cities). This story is twisted for hateful heterosupremacist agendas. Evangelical Christianity in particular lifts this Scripture out of context and ignores centuries of commentary from rabbis. And why? Because if believers understood Genesis 19 in context, LGBT people would not be the targets. The rich, greedy, abusive, and those who act unjustly would be.
Here’s the video so you can study and show yourself approved. (2 Tim 2:15)
